“Hands Across the Waters:
Keeping a Clean Environment through Art and Green Schools”

1. Reasons for organizing the workshop
The purpose of this workshop is to encourage regional cooperation and capacity building with regard to the environment. This project will focus on keeping a clean environment for people and wildlife by providing the training to current teachers and teachers-in-training (pre-service teachers) to teach environmental sustainability practices through art and deliver that curriculum to pre-school, elementary-, and high school-aged students.GreenSchools environmental education activities focused on littering, gardening, composting, and clean water will be utilized. Green Schools activities prepare students to become leaders and citizens who understand how the natural world works, see the patterns that connect human activities to nature, and have the knowledge, values, and skills to act effectively on that understanding (www.ecoliteracy.org).
