GENERAL INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION DIVISION

History and Development

The International Cooperation Division (ICD) was established through separating the International Cooperation Section from the Division of Science Management and International Cooperation under Decision No 825/QD-DHHD dated July 14, 2010 by The Rector of Hong Duc University (HDU).

Its mission is to advise the Board of Rectors on State management works on training, scientific research and foreign affairs.

ICD consists of 8 staff, of which there are 2 PhD, 3 Master and 3 Bachelor’s Degree holders.

Outcome and achievement

The International Cooperation Division has advised HDU to network with over 40 universities and organizations from 25 foreign countries for the purposes of opening up learning opportunities and cultural exchanges among students; consolidating the expertise and competence of staff/faculty; bolstering the activities of training, science and technology; and contributing to affirming the position and prestige of the University.

During the implementation process of the Project “Joint Human Resource Training at Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees with Overseas Universities”, HDU sent 202 attendants, including 22 PhD, 153 Master and 27 Bachelor’s Degree holders, to study overseas at 40 foreign tertiary institutions from 18 countries. This project was successful in providing high-quality human resources to a variety of provincial agencies, boards and organizations, making a great contribution to the eco-social development of Thanh Hoa province.

The ICD is the focal point for cooperative programs in training and scientific research in collaboration with international partners. For example, conducting the physics-majored faculty/student exchange in the context of Eramus Plus Scholarship sponsored by the University of Zielona Goza, Poland; carrying out the Joint Training Program in Master of Business Administration in cooperation with Soongsil University, Korea; and the 1+3 Joint Training Program in Bachelor in Business Administration in cooperation with Rajamangala Thanabury University, Thailand; In addition, the Division is also in charge of managing thousands of Lao students at the University.

The ICD has actively worked  with international universities to organize and perform international science and technology tasks, e.g. the project: “Researching of Quantum fluctuations of the nonlinear optical system type Kerr” in cooperation with the University of Zielona Gora, Poland; the project: “Research for domestic waste water treatment model at starting points in Sam Son ecological tourism zone” in cooperation with University of Greisfwald, Germany; being a co-owner of the project: “Supporting the Integration in Agricultural Curricula of Climate Change Concerns at University of Agriculture” (ACCCU) funded by the Government of the Netherlands.

The ICD has succeeded in hosting international conferences such as “administration in Vietnam’s local universities”; “development of local products through the one village one product movement – OVOP”; “integration of climate change education into university curriculum”; or “Hands Across Waters: Environmental Education through art activities and green garden”.

The international cooperation team has successfully organized the student exchange programs including “Asian Culture Study Contest” in cooperation with Thai Universities; sending students to attend the competitions “Quiz ASEAN” and “Technology Talent” (ESTA), and participating in the sports and culture exchange at the University of Science and Technology, Kunming, China.

With such achievements, the ICD has always won the title of Progressive Teamwork on a yearly basis and been awarded the Merit Certificate of Friendship by the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Development orientation

In the years to come, the ICD will continue to advise the Board of Rector on maintaining the established relationships with international universities and organizations; and will forge new partnerships for joint training and scientific research programs to help HDU to deeply integrate with prestigious universities in the world.
