PhD student Nguyen Thi Dinh successfully defends his Ph.D thesis in History of Vietnam

March 9, 2018, Nguyen Thi Dinh, a lecturer of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Hong Duc University, successfully defended her thesis at PhD defence ceremony held at Hanoi National University of Education.

Thesis title: "Trade relations between Vietnam and European-American countries in the French colonial period 1897 - 1945".

The thesis is the first research of Vietnam in the relationship between Vietnam and European-American countries in the French colonial period. Nguyen Thi Dinh's dissertation has made important contributions as follows:

Systematically restoring the history of trade relations between Vietnam and European-American countries, from 1897 to 1945.

Elaborately interpreting the causes of vicissitudes in trade relations between Vietnam and France, European and American countries such as England, USA and Germany.

Evaluating the French colonial policy in Vietnam, its essence and its impact on foreign trade and Vietnamese economy; the situation of trading activities between Vietnam and European-American countries in the French colonial period; the commercial position of France in particular and of European countries, America in general in Vietnam from 1897 to 1945.

Research outcomes are informative sources in researching and teaching Vietnam’s neo-modern history and economic history.

Evaluation of the Council: the thesis is an elaborate, serious, good quality research; PhD student Nguyen Thi Dinh is fully deserving of a PhD degree in History of Vietnam.
