Hong Duc University Held the Opening Ceremony For the New Academic Year 2020-2021

On October 29, 2020, Hong Duc University held the opening ceremony for the new academic year 2020-2021. Dignitaries in attendance of the ceremony included the Head of the Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Mr. Nguyen Van Phat, the former president of Hong Duc University, and representatives of agencies in the Thanh Hoa province. From the side of HDU, there was President Dr. Hoang Van Thi, faculty, and nearly 400 students with excellence representing the more than 9,000 students of the school.
In the opening speech, Dr. Thi congratulated the faculty and students for the period of development in all fields at Hong Duc University. In human resources, 96% of lecturers owned master's degree or higher, 20 associate professors, and 160 doctors. In scientific research there was an increase in articles published in specialized journals and international journals.The scope and scale of international cooperation activities has developed under the goals and prestige of the University. Lastly, the facilities over the last several years have been outfitted with modern equipment.
In his speech, the president briefed some of the main goals of this academic year. These include opening new majors, improving training methods to meet the socio-economic development requirements of the province and the country, reforming university governance to allow for more autonomy for subordinate units, implementing administrative reform, and continuing to improve scientific research capacity and international cooperation management
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phat praised the past achievements of the school while also suggesting several goals for the new academic year. Some of the topics Mr. Phat would discuss included effectively implementing modern university governance, building leading experts in the HDU’s departments, effectively managing facilities to meet the requirements of teaching, learning, and scientific research, and further improving scientific research capacity, international cooperation, and student management.
At the end of the ceremony, Do Thi Khanh Linh, a new student of K23, on behalf of more than 9,000 students, shared: “we promise to continue writing a page of the glorious and proud history of the School.”
At the end of the meeting, the Board of Rectors awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to 19 students with high achievements in the Olympics in Mathematics, Physics, Informatics, and the National Student Vovinam Prize in 2019. Also, they awarded Certificates of Merit from the President of Hong Duc University to 17 students with high scores in the university entrance exam in 2020, 2 Lao students, and 17 students with excellent achievements in study and practice in the academic year 2019-2020.
