President of Hong Duc University pays a 3-day visit to Japan

From 26th May to 28th May, 2016, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Manh An, President of Hong Duc University (HDU), along with Association of Vietnam Universities and Colleges (AVUC), accompanied the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to participate in G7 summit 2016 and visit Japan.

During three days of working, President attended Vietnam-Japan high-level economy policy dialogue taking place in Nagoya and witnessed the signing ceremony between AVUC and Association of Japan Vocational Institutions, opening up great opportunities for Vietnam-Japan profound educational cooperation in years to come.

In addition, President and Association Members paid a visit to two prestigious Universities of Tokyo, Japan: Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) and Toyo University (TU). These are Japan’s two top private tertiary institutions noted for its long tradition and academic excellence.

SIT, previously known as Tokyo higher school of Industry and Commerce, was established in 1927.  SIT provides students with a practical learning framework to train them to become experts in science and technology making great contributions to the world development. Institute has currently offered 7 academic areas as follow: Mechanics; Life Sciences; Electricity, Electronics and Information; Construction; Materials and Chemistry; Mathematical Sciences, Design. In 2015, SIT has 8389 international students from Latin America, South East Asia, East Asia, Europe and Africa and Middle East.

On the last day, the Delegation spent on visiting Toyo University, which was founded in 1887. In 2014, Toyo was ranked by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology as part of the Top Global University Project. As the result, University has annually allocated millions of dollars to train high-quality human resources for Japan. At present, University consists of 11 faculties with departments, 12 graduate schools offering 34 courses of study. TU has forged the partnership with 83 universities from 27 countries in the world. University is currently home to the large number of international students from 30 countries and 30 000 Japanese students.

The 3-day working trip of President accompanying the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and VAUC ended with success. This visit to Japan is viewed as a major breakthrough in cooperation of Vietnamese tertiary institutions in general and Hong Duc University in particular with Japanese institutions. The enhanced partnership in training and science research between HDU and Japanese Universities is considered to be pivotal part of International Cooperation and Integration works in dealing with the renovation spirit of Decision 29-NQ/TW by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam ./.
