Speaking at workshop opening, Dr. Le Thi Thu Ha, Dean of the Department of Psychology and Education stresses that the number of children with developmental disabilities has increased significantly in recent years in Vietnam and in the world as a whole. Children diagnosed with developmental disorders include children with intellectual disabilities, children with language and communication delays, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autistic disorder, and so on.  It is concerned that such developmental disorders have usually triggered signs of other disorders.  These disorders normally slow down the development of the children, making them less likely to reach development standards at specific times. In response to this issue, it is widely held that a collective support and intervention from family, school, community and notably mental experts is a prerequisite to help children with developmental disorders can integrate into normal life.
